If you’ve been following our website and social media, then you know we have exciting news to share. So without further ado: we are expanding our organization! As many of you know, we have had a multitude of teams play in the various divisions of Emerald Necklace. With this exciting expansion, we have now added one 16U tournament (club) team to our portfolio. We currently have a core group of girls that we are looking to build around and form a full team. Our current 18U coach, Megan Haffner, will be transitioning to a dual role of coaching the tournament team and the 18U league team. We have also added two new pitching coaches to our organization! Jennie Beard and Zoe Beetler come with years of experience in pitching lessons, and are a great addition to our expanding organization! In addition to pitching, Coach Megan is available for hitting and fielding lessons!
For those interested: we are having our first open practice on August 8th from 10 AM to 12 PM. Please come meet the coaches and learn more about the new additions!
Please see the attached flyers for tryout information, or feel free to check out our new and improved website: strongsvillesoftball.com!
It’s true: we are expanding! Mustangs Fast Pitch is happy to announce the addition of our tournament teams in addition to our league teams! Our dedicated coaches are taking on a core group of girls to develop and build our program. Plus, new coaches will be announced soon! Stay tuned for the full announcement on Friday, July 17th!
At Mustangs Fastpitch we take the safety of our players, parents and coaches very seriously and have been monitoring the Covid19 situation very closely and we are pleased to announce we will resume softball on 5/26/20 per the guidelines of the Sate of Ohio and the CDC. We are also working with the City of Strongsville to implement enhanced safety measures to ensure as much as possible the safety of everyone. Please refer to the forms page to download the requirements and recommendations from the State of Ohio and CDC.
We first would like to say thank you for your understanding during these unprecedented times. As Emerald Necklace is relaying information to us, the coaches are working diligently to relay the information to you. With that being said here are a few updates we have:
First, Emerald Necklace still has not made a definitive decision regarding the 2020 summer softball season. Their hope is that there will be a season and the girls will be able to play to some extent. Tentatively, the dates for the season would be June 10th-July 31st, with these dates subject to change. For full transparency, there have been talks of moving the start date to July 1st, but that decision is not yet conclusive. Regardless of Emerald Necklace's decision, our main priority remains the safety of our players, coaches, and parents. As will be further discussed below, the Mustangs Fast Pitch board has been spending a significant amount of time developing a plan that would ensure everyone's safety.
Second, a neighboring community has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the 2020 softball season. It has come to our attention that other communities are having difficulties securing fields and are having trouble maintaining numbers on their teams. While Mustangs Fast Pitch has been fortunate to not run into those issues, we are seeing an increase of teams that are.
Third, as I'm sure you all know: Governor DeWine has recently extended the Stay Safe Ohio orders until May 29th. Per the Ohio High School Athletic Association, all school fields are remaining closed until June 30th, which directly impacts some communities' ability to host a softball game. With this order being extended, it would leave little time to prepare for the upcoming softball season. While that issue is minuscule compared to the Covid-19 crisis, we at Mustang Fast Pitch are taking these dates into account as we make any decisions moving forward.
Our mission statement is as follows: Our mission is to encourage the betterment of young athletes in a safe, fun environment, to assist in developing citizenship, leadership, and athletic values. Fair play and respect is integral to our operation, not only as teammates, but as people. Our coaches strive to provide the highest caliber, valuable instruction in the sport of Fast Pitch softball, and to enable teams to compete regionally.
With our mission statement in mind, I want to reiterate that the Mustang Fast Pitch board has been working diligently behind the scenes to figure out ways for our teams to be able to participate in the upcoming softball season. While we await Emerald Necklace's decision, we are constantly reminded of our commitment to provide our players, coaches, and parents a safe environment. With little information on Covid-19, we fear there may be a risk of exposure during a softball game. While we have contemplated restrictions for our home games, it is hard to say if our strict guidelines will be respected when we travel to opposing cities. Mustang Fast Pitch feels an obligation to each player, coach, and parent in our organization, but also feels safety should be our utmost priority.
The Mustang Fast Pitch board has decided to await for an Emerald Necklace decision until May 15th. If no decision is made by the Emerald Necklace organization by May 15th, the board is going to reconvene and discuss any new possible updates from the Governor or new information on Covid-19. We will have a final decision on our season by May 20th.
In the event the season is cancelled, we are offering two options regarding payment. First: a full refund via a check. If you choose the refund, please be advised it may take a few weeks to process and mail. Also if you were fitted for a uniform: the uniform cost will be deducted as the uniforms were ordered prior to the Covid-19 crisis and are in. All uniforms that were ordered will be distributed once they can be picked up at the providers location. Second, the payment can be applied towards playing with Mustang Fast Pitch next year. Our organization administrator will credit the balance on the player's account, to be redeemed
